Take a ferry to Gorée Island, a UNESCO World Heritage site known for its poignant history related to the Atlantic slave trade. Explore the Maison des Esclaves (House of Slaves).

An hour’s drive from Dakar, this animal sanctuary, studded with acacia and baobab trees, shelters once-endangered species that have been successfully reintroduced to the area.
